The issue in my case and a lot of others is that once this starts to happen it gets progressively worse and causes problems in the rest of the transaxel as well. I needed new syncros on just about every gear, and Eric at g-box had to machine the second gear syncro in a special way as to allow the dogs to engage differently. It was a very involved process, but the problem is gone.

This is the correct answer. One side benefit of the Tip is that you will not have over-revs which are quite common with 6-speeds - especially if random shoppers do "test drives." My TT is a 6-speed, but if my car had been a Tip and was otherwise identical, I'd have bought it.
