Fender rolling questions
I have a very well maintained and well cared for '88 Carrera finished in (instant oxidizing) Guards Red. Evidence indicates the car was always garaged, not parked in the sun. Roof panel may have been refinished very early in the car's life. Original paint in surprisingly good condition. To get the Euro ride height will very likely require "rolling" the front fender lips. 205-55 tires on 7 X 16 wheels. This raises some questions.
1. Heating old paint will make it more plastic and reduce the tendency to crack and chip. What target temperature? I have an instant reading digital thermometer I use for cooking that can be used to measure the surface temp.
2. Some damage is inevitable requiring touch up painting. What is the best way to create touch up paint that will match the original paint color which will have faded over time? Will buffing the paint bring it back close enough to original color to use touch up from commercial sources?
