I put Boxter Sport seats in my 964 Had to do some work to attach to floors and they sit a few inches higher than original seats , the seat rails themselves are a few inches longer than 911.
Once you set them down you will see that you need to bend a bracket on the boxter seats front mounts and drill a hole in the rear portion of the seat rail (not the car) to bolt it to the original mount
I assume the 84 has same type of seat mounting, easily strippable hex head screw to metal plate that slides in the mounting frame
