I 'd say 100% times better. I am older now and night vision is going and it did not help I recently got Lasik Mono-vision ( can't be a pilot anymore
).
I can see so far down the road, it is amazing how I drove at night even with incandescent bulbs recommended by Daniel Stern. BTW, I do recommend all his brake/marker/turn signal bulbs, they are the absolute brightest, even tested against all the "bright" LEDs
Caveat, you must aim the HID's down by an inch as not to blind on coming traffic.
The incandescent is OSRAM Night Breakers Plus. It is the best standard bulbs with most complete light throw with little to no dead spots.
