I have also had cats my whole life... I don't get too freaked out when they react to things I can't see...as P-O-P says their eyesight is much different than ours (I have at times pulled out a ladder only to find an infinitesimal gnat on the ceiling they were staring at). Add to that their hearing... I have seen video of a bobcat chasing a mouse that is tunneling under over a foot of snow.
