Condolences.

Still miss my first dog, Penny. She was a golden and made it to 17 years. Passed from congestive heart failure...old age. She passed quietly lying next to me while I was watching TV. She was always 2 ft from me and would do anything I asked her to. Once she followed me up a metal wrung ladder to a storage area. I climbed down and she stood at the edge looking between me and the ladder. I held my arms out and said jump. She immediately jumped right into my arms. Actually surprised the heck out of me, but I caught her. The only weird quirk she had would have gotten her put down if she was ever a rescue dog. If you put food in her bowl it was HERS. She would growl, bare her teeth, and snap at anyone that even got close to her or the food bowl. But, if you asked her she would happily bring it to you and let you have it, weird. I used it to train her to bare her teeth and growl when I made a fist. Very handy having a dog that would bare her teeth and growl on a hand signal.

When Penny passed she left such a big hole in my life I only made it a month before I just had to get another golden.
