I would go with the Apprentice before the delta, but the Corsair flies about as tame as the Apprentice. The new (higher end) Spektrum transmitters have a wireless buddy system.
Emily and I have both flown R/C and Jacob does well on the simulator so the learning curve shouldn't be too great for any of us. I still like flying full size better. Emily is a Young Eagle and got to fly a Glasair Sportsman and loved it. If you have kids interested in flying, Young Eagles is a great way to get started.
