I can understand that; been through it myself. I divorced my high school sweetheart about 6 years ago (in my early 30's). Still love her, we'd just changed too much and our goals in life were at odds.
With this other woman...have you guys ever discussed--really discussed--how you feel about each other, and what were the pros/cons about trying to take it to the next level? Now is obviously not the time, but it might be worth it in the not too distant future. When you find someone that you have THAT deep of a connection to, it just seems to me like you'd want to keep it.
