I am The Man, or The Geek as the case may be.
Routers and Firewalls are NOT that big of a deal if you've been messing with them since 1991 ie 25 years.
At one time I had a poor man's border protocol setup. Border protocol is where if and ISP connection into your servers goes down, the internet fails over to another ISP connection. I ran two name servers, one on each ISP connection. My servers each had IPs on both connections. The names servers were set pointing the their IP for each server with very short Time To Live, TTL. and to not store lookups. If a connection failed the connection to that nameserveralso failed routing all DNS lookups and the resulting traffic to the other ISP. The longest access would not be available was less than 5 minutes. At the time there was a company selling a firewall box that did the same thing for $13,000.
