Have you seen how much 996 turbo you can buy for about $40k these days? Yeah, 930s, 965s, and 993tts are pricey; but that's like complaining about how impossible it is to buy a beachfront house in Malibu or Nantuckett. I may have missed the boat on that GT3 I always wanted, but that doesn't mean there aren't fun Porsches to be had for a lower budget.

Didn't mean to complain. I'm just really surprised at how much older Porches have appreciated. They weren't that pricey when I was paying attention to them several years ago (I don't follow the car market as you can tell) and I don't understand why they are so valuable now. I don't consider them classics. Ferrari's are even more rare and as I showed in my post above you can get similar year Ferrari for similar pricing - and I'm sure they are also fun to drive.
I don't care for the style of the 996. I could get into a 997 but, as I showed in a post above, for similar money you can get a Ferrari and even a Lamborghini. The last two are a completely different level of sports car ownership and I think it would be a fun novelty to play with for a few years. My point is that for the same money you can get much more car. The asking price of the older Porsche's aren't worth it for me. Anyhow, I've got time to think about it as I'm still finalizing plans for my garage addition. Wife and I finally agreed on a design. LOL
