I just replaced my fuel screen last night.

I reccomend that you completely remove the tank 1st, then, the larger tube coming out of the tank has the fuel screen in it. Simply unscrew & the fuel screen should come right out.

I also removed the smaller tube because when I pulled out the screen, there was considerable amount of crud built up around the screen. There was also gunk around the smaller tube.

I cleaned up both tubes with engine cleaner. Be careful not to ruin the paper type gasket on the smaller tube (unless) you have a replacement. After cleaning out the inner part of the tube fittings, I tilted the tank (which had about 2 cups of gas still in it) and poured out a little gas to remove the last of the crud.

Put it all back together & the engine runs much smoother.

After seeing all the crud in the bottom of the tank, I plan on completely emptying the tank & treating the inside of the tank. But, for now, a new screen is helping.
