I'm thinking: longer stem, drop bars, brifters, front derailleur, double crank and you've got a folding road bike. Enough carbon bits and it can probably weigh 18 lb. Really go to town with the SRAM wireless shifters, 24" carbon rims, and 24" tubulars. |
Impressive project. Tough getting the weight down with any folder. 24" makes it doable for some trail riding.
Have a 20" folder with its twitchy handling. Made some mods to fit as a full size bike and yet its heavier than a regular bike.
My first though on this Helix ti folder was going belt drive then read the FAQ:
Due to the fact that the chain length expands and contracts when folding, it is not currently an option. Helix uses a modern chain drive with hollow links that is lightweight, durable and highly efficient.
