Years ago a buddy of mine lived on a street that was the top of a T intersection. Cars were supposed to turn left or right after a stop sign. About every 4 years so some dipstick that was flying along would blow the stop sign and crash into the trees he was trying to get to grow. The trees kept stopping the cars but it destroyed the trees They would almost get big enough and some other idiot would take them out. He finally built a large berm with rail road ties facing out and planted flowers. It was a large berm and he drove rebar down through the ties and into the ground. He was real glad he did all that when yet another fool in a big F-350 hammered it at a good clip. The dumb ass driver was trying to drive off so my friend threw a logging chain through the wheels and locked it to a utility pole and waited for the cops.

The driver had gone through the windshield (no seatbelt) and was bleeding profusely. The cops took the driver to the hospital and then the county jail for drunk driving. It was amazing that he had survived the crash. He was at the drunk and never dies in the crash level. The drunks often kill an entire family and the drunk walks away from the crash.

My friend just built the berm bigger once again with the property damage insurance check from the pickup driver.
