Today I emptied the oil tank and dissected the oil filter. The pictures below show what I found.
In short, the oil tank was very clean with some tiny pieces of what we are assuming is a chain ramp. No metal bits on the drain plug magnet, just a slight coating of grey sludge.
The filter contained one tiny, very very thin piece of metal, non-metalic, and some tiny pieces of our ramp. Metal shows up as a kind of blueish color in the pic.
The pictures show the bits labelled F (filter) E (engine) T (oil tank) to designate where they were found. I included the big piece from yesterday (came out the engine oil drain hole) as a visual contrast for the size of the particles found today.
So barring that one sliver no metal found today. Remember the engine ran for max 4 or 5 minutes when I heard the noise.
