The dash on the 996 was pretty awful, even Porsche realized it a little too late. The rest of the interior, (seats/doors/etc.), was ok. They really suffer when they have a light interior, it just shines a klieg light on the ugly. In black or dark grey, (not light grey!), the whole $8.00 plastic piece in the middle of dash and $.50 buttons are muted quite a bit.
Ironically, the 996 interior holds up to age and abuse a lot better than the earlier cars. It's as though it really was sub'ed out to Toyota except that Toyoya interiors exude a lot more quality.
