The g96/00&01 from a 996 Carrera is not a g50 derivative gearbox. If you go water cooled gearbox use a gt3 gearbox. The Carrera one is beefy but that's about it. Difficult to rebuild. Not great ratios. No LSD.
But if it were me I would just go 915. You are going to do a ton of chassis modification and add weight to put in something g50. Part of the reason to backdate is to build something like and sensitive like the early cars.
