Well, today I pulled off the upper hose of the HCV and moved it out of the way. I plugged up all the miscellaneous holes so nothing would get on the clutch. Guess what? Some idiot in the past (probably the one who left off the shim) used a TORX head bolt instead of an allen head. No wonder I couldn't get the thing to come off. Tomorrow I'll hook up the connectors and see how it goes. Once the bracket was loosened, the shim on the end of the sensor probe method couldn't be easier.
