Thanks for your comments but its definitely not chain ramp material. I've pulled the chain box covers and the valve covers too. Nothing loose, broken, missing.
The black 'piece' found was some sort of gasket/sealant or combo of both. The question is did a piece possibly block an oil way and cause a bearing issue - hence my oil analysis and question regarding the metals content found in the oil sample. (see post #48).
Is my next move engine out/tear-down or have I missed any steps?
