WWII Infantry Solder, Purple Heart & Bronze Star, BAR Man during the Battle of the Bulge in the Hürtgen Forest. Sustained a mortar shell that went into his fox hole. To this day he says he should have kept moving when firing his BAR but his feet were frozen and he needed to catch his breath - took only a few minutes for a mortar to blow him and two others up. He survived, they did not. He still has metal in his chest from it.
Now at 92 years old. He is having a rough go.
They honor the vets at the place he now has to live. He was in great shape until they put an internal defib into him - seems like after the general A, operation and meds he is on, he has little to no energy.
