I participated in a BMW club comparison drive at my local dealer and drove a base V-6 Panamera as well as the BMW 6 Gran Coupe and an Audi A6.
The Audi was not in the same league, but the 6 Gran Coupe and the Panamera compared well. Of the lot, I honestly liked the way the Panamera drove the best. I felt it had an overall better feel, adequate power, and a certain "presence" that the others lacked. I think Porsche made a nice attempt at their first 4 door sedan.
It's funny, the back never bothered me too much - not as much as the Boxster/GT-1 front end of the 996, but opinions vary greatly on style. I guess I felt the rear was distinct and functional.
I also thought their resale would tank (like the Cayenne), but that has not been the case. I guess I'll look for a used manual Cayenne GTS...
