Picking away at Magnus is obviously a great sport. He has done some questionable things that give people lots of ammo and he likes to take 911s and make them visually different. That is like laying landmines around yourself during a hopscotch tournament in the Porsche world.

Magnus is very good at self promotion. This is ragged on but let's be serious. Anyone who has tried to make a good impression on a date or job interview has done self promotion. His personal style certainly isn't everyone's and it isn't my speed but no one forced anyone to look at it.

So fun with ripping on someone aside...
I never was a big fan of the 964. The urethane bumpers just aren't my thing on a car that by its own nature is so mechanical. Also unlike a lot of people I don't feel distaste when someone hotrods their cars. My big thing is, Does the styling have function or is it "anti functional"?

I really like a lot of what was done on this car. It is enough that it makes the 964 more interesting. Carrying the center hood recess over the roof an the rear works well. (I do wonder if they lowered the center or raised it over the seats.) It flows well. The gas cap is a nice simplifying touch. Not really needed but it doesn't hurt. The R taillights I think work well. I know a lot of people don't like the wheels but I think they are an interesting engineering solution that pays tribute to the favorite wheel of most of us. The shaved ran gutters are really nice. (Wish Porsche had done that.) Aero mirrors are nice but I would prefer it with the 935 mirrors. The suggestion to remove the rear center reflector sounds cool. Obviously a retro indent would be nice. Add that to a louvered/vented rear valance would be really cool. The old school chrome mirror is a nice touch. The wire grill looks excellent.

The one thing I really don't like is the way the louvers on the fender were done. The hex metal mesh in the opening is nice but the angle of the louvers is too short and abrupt for me. It just seems to be an obtrusive hack. If the louvers were made so they were at a much more sloped angle with maybe the leading edge punched inward I might like them. Maybe if they only stuck up 1/3 as much. I'd want to see a few different things before I'd agree to interrupt the line of the fender.
That said... It is his car and he has his own style that he obviously enjoys and this is done VERY WELL to that style. Plus he did this with a basket case and I think even the biggest critic would say it was an improvement.
