I'm enjoying following this thread. I am amazed at the effort you put into these projects. Hauling those engines up two flights of stairs !!
If the 928 was my car and my goal was to have fun driving it I would polish the high spots and sharp edges off of the piston and head to eliminate hot spots that might cause detonation, maybe do a valve job, and put it back together. But I'm not understanding all I'm seeing in the pictures. What's with the head gaskets? Is there something about the piston/head damage that is connected to the head gaskets?
