brake light

Car is a 77 911 with 79 euro sc engine and 84 wide-body.

When I press the brake pedal it feels funny and the brake light comes and stays on. In order to get it to turn off I have to pull the emergency brake handle up and close it firmly back down. The mechanic said that this might indicate the master cylinder is going, however someone else i spoke with said a master cylinder problem would cause the brake light to come on only when you have the pedal pressed.

This problem started right after I took the car in for repair. I had messed up the fuel line which goes to the fuel pressure regulator, while trying to replace the fuel accumulator. Also the car was having starting issues. So, I had the car towed to my mechanic who replaced the fuel line and found a bad fuel pump which he also replaced. I am concerned maybe the brake light problem could be related to this repair/tow, since I didn't have the brake light issue before the car went to the mechanic. Then again the car was sitting for a while since I had the bad fuel pump starting issue. Is there anyway this problem could arise from replacing the fuel pump or fuel line? Is there anyway that this would happen from getting the car towed? Car was winched up from the rear. I also am noticing there is a tiny amount smoke being generated from the rear passenger side, not sure if this is normal.
