I assume from your post you mean the brake warning light on the dash, correct?

That symptom does, typically, mean a problem with either the pressure switches on the MC or the MC itself. Since you also notice that the brake pedal "feels funny," you may very well be experiencing a failing MC rather than the brake light switches. If it were me, I'd do a R/R of the MC, just to be safe, especially if it's original to the car.
