You make a good point. But GW never invaded Iraq with an idea it would rid the economy of its ailments. As for our troops not coming home because of this, you also make a valid point - they're in there for a very long time; this changes nothing about their deployment.
The size of this story is simply that these were two of the three men who were very elusive to the U.S. troops. Plus, they are, to a degree, hinge points of the U.S. invading Iraq to begin with.
