Are they the thin metal type or the thick billet aluminum type??
I used silicon lube on the inner 2 o-rings (thin) and on the outer (large green) o-rings called silglyd or something like that. The set I put on my prior engine was the thin metal ones and I used hose clamps on the ends (only snugged enough to keep from sliding) so a large screwdriver could be used to seat the o-rings.
The second set (in the 3.2) are billet alum . . . far superior to the metal ones, went in with a little pursuasion, but much easier.
Finally, but you probably know this, the oil drains from the head into the sump so you want the tube with the smaller outer diameter in the head, and the tube with the larger outer diameter in the block. This way the oil never flows against the seam.
