^^^I used this same strategy when I bought my 964 in the mid-west and drove it to the mid-Atlantic area. Network with your fellow Pelicans that are along your route home, and if you're not in too big of a hurry to get home, arrange to meet some of them for lunch or dinner. Also, get shop recommendations for your route home...just in case.
