Perhaps the most beloved Piano Sonata's are:
Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor ("Pathétique")
Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor 'Sonata quasi una fantasia' ("Moonlight")
Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor ("Appassionata") (1805)
Those would be a good starting point.
