Installed new door stays, plus the reinforcement kit. Glad I did it - the passenger side was ok, but the drivers side sheet metal was getting bent up and the old stay clicked every time I moved the door. I managed to straighten the metal out enough to get the plates installed and tightened everything firmly. I also modified the stays as per that link to the 993 forum to make them a bit less stiff. It all works nicely now. It's great to arm oneself with all this info before tackling a project.
Weird thing, though - the old passenger side stay (on bottom) was the original one, but the drivers side (top one) had been replaced with this one. Doesn't look familiar at all, though it functioned ok. Any ideas where it was from?
