That era of Jag is actually pretty good because they are relatively simple. Reliability definitely benefited from Ford ownership in the late 1990s and early 2000s. By 2005 the timing chain tensioner should have the factory update and the Nikasil issue was resolved. The suspension is still a conventional spring arrangement as opposed to the problematic air suspension that the newer models went to. The transmission is very robust, just change the fluid and filter every 80k. They aren't a sports car but they are fantastic cruisers, very nice inside with comfy seats, comfortable and well controlled ride, and plenty of V8 punch. Perfect car for cruising across the country.
