+1 : Great "consumable" books, well written in a first person, self deprecating style. Only (real) Wizard in the yellow pages that tries to make a paycheck and is occasionally on retainer for the local PD.

I'd add the "Chronicles of Amber" Series by Zelazny (fantasy but dips into the modern world too)- you can buy the "all in one" book on amazon. In many ways it reminds me of the above, with an even cleverer concept of Earth and many other worlds being "shadows" (variations) of the original Amber world, and the characters travelling thru those while fighting each other for the crown. All good reads.
