Thanks for all the great technical advice on the site, as a result of which I've just replaced the clutch, control joints ,tie rods, discs and pads on my son's 2002 Mini one, R50, 1.6 petrol. However, at the final stage, a single wire has revealed itself from the area of the intake manifold and search as I may, I cannot locate its destination. Its a single red wire coming off the wiring cable which runs behind the intake manifold and appears to have a sensor terminal. The terminal has a rubber 'o' ring and the end is tarnished green in colour making me think it may be coolant temp or ambient temp sensor but I can find no trace of a hole on either radiator or engine block. My son did have the radiator changed about a year ago and I'm wondering if this wire was now obsolete and tucked away until it revealed itself. Car has started and runs fine with no leaks.
