Never look at it that way, you will always be disappointed. Just go to the grocery if it's a price per pound analysis.

The only exception is hunting out of your home window (I know some one who does this) with tags only and you do the processing yourself.

I spent a few days with my daughter hunting this season in some of the greatest big game country in the US on public land. Tags, gas, food, $100+. Maybe. Very cheap I did not buy a tag just Her.

No shots taken.

Value $1,000,000,00+

I have spent big bucks on big game on trips, this was worth more.

It's worth what your looking for. Never confuse it with Money. It's a great experience to be shared with friends and family. The only ways it pays is if your poaching or shooting out windows.

Trips out with friends and family are the valuable ones.

I have paid well over $40.00/ per pound for meat that took all day for me to pack out.
