the marks on my 84 cam sprockets were very hard to see - they are a very slight V in one of the "valleys" on the sprocket on the cam cover side - they line up with a plastic tab on the rear part of the timing cover - line up the crank with TDC and look close - if I remember they are both towards the left side (that's with you standing if front of car) when at TDC - marking them when you find them makes it easier for us guys with old eyes in the future
