She's on (and XO of) her JROTC unit's Raider's team. Raiders is a physical fitness competition that involves obstacle courses, building rope bridges, carrying each other, land navigation, etc. Her unit is an "honor unit with distinction," which allows the commanders to make service academy nominations. She'll still apply for one through the political channels as there are relatively few appointments available for nominations made through the JROTC units.
