Thanks to everyone who keeps this thread going. Hope it's helping other in the spot I was in. Old engine out new one in, been back on the road for 8 months and flawless. Still the most important tool in my garage are the pieces of wood stacked in the corner. Jack stands will fail, timbers....unlikely. I'll also place 2 side by side at each wheel and set the car flat on them for doing things around the perimeter. Gives it a good 8" of extra clearance. I do this on my cars when I wax them... Just much easier.
