I've dealt with BCM failure, driver's door module failure, and HVAC mix door actuator problems.
Most involved repair I've done to one like the Suburban you're looking at was replacing the front differential bearings.
I'd say it's no worse than what Ford offers, but a lot better than a Dodge Durango, or a new Jeep with a V8.
Edit:
I have replaced a transmission in a '12 Silverado, FWIW... 6L80 I think it was, and it requires a laptop to initialize when installed.
