BMW S1000R - in the garage...

Just...wow. Had been considering a Thruxton as a sport-bike balance to my RK. The reviews and feedback from many of you caused me to rethink that plan. Test road a few bikes over the holidays but this bike so outperformed everything else in terms of handling, features, acceleration, braking, suspension and even comfort (note: this the "R" version of the "RR" track bike) that there was no decision to make.

First ride had me blown away....then I realized it was in "rain mode". Switched to "road" and all I can say is that I've never experienced torque, throttle response and balance in my short 56 years like this. An absolute rush!

Quick shifter is instantaneous without touching the clutch or backing off throttle. There are still two higher performance settings that I will likely not explore. The traction control and race ABS all but prevent wheelies and those back off on higher settings. No 3rd gear wheelies for me.

Bike also has cruise control, ESA and ergos that are more friendly for regular people. Farkle plans are under way to include bar-end mirrors, Pazzo shorty levers, paddock stand and spools, and some CF bits. Akropovic slip-on already installed.

Wasn't sure about white at first but the more I see it, the more I like it. This is a 2015 and was a demo bike that I bought in the wee hours of Year-end, so the deal was good.

My HD may be collecting dust. May even sell it come spring. Any Pelican interest in a good deal, let me know. Going to be a happy new year for me!
