+1! Most overused, and incorrectly used, word in the car world. Look at early 911 steering wheels. Guys are paying $500 for for old pitted Momo's wheels with dried and cracked leather.
Patina originally defined specifically to copper's return to green. Patina IS the green on copper, during copper's process or returning to it's natural state. How the heck can rotting leather on a steering wheel be called "patina". I see now that some dictionaries have included the general term to relate to anything old and charming….A euphemism.
