Update:
I finally got time to fool with the car today. I removed and cleaned the contacts and reinstalled the relay and checked it with a DVM. I tried to use the method that Stan described but to my shock the battery was dead....really dead. This made the picture a lot more clear since the cooling pump had been disconnect a week or two ago! I applied my charger and the cooling motor started right up and ran and ran. I pulled the lead off the temp. sensor and about 20 seconds later it stopped. I'm pretty sure that I have a bad sensor. Where is a good place to get one?
