When I bought my car, it was on Michelins that were 13 years old. The car was "greasy" in almost any kind of situation that required any kind of traction. It was my first act to buy new rubber for the car, because those old tires were hockey pucks. Maybe that's what happened here? Not skinny rubber, but "vintage" rubber?
