No shock absorber that I know of. This was a new install about 6 years ago (complete demo of old bathroom and all new plumbing from the floor up). Pressure is excellent all through the house. When they did the plumbing upstairs they went with the larger size pipe (I want to say 1/2" but could be wrong) so we'd have good pressure. In testing it today, it filled a 2L jug of water in under 5 seconds, if that means anything.
