In BC the taxes on fuel for vehicles is high compared to most provinces.
The provincial take is about 24% of the price of fuel.
In the Vancouver area, that jumps to about 36% plus the federal governments grab which totals out to about 49% of the cost of each liter of fuel. Then let us not forget the tax on tax policy of the GST and tack on another 5% on the total!
So I think it is fair to blame the government rather than those greedy oil companies. (and Alberta and Albertans!
