Pretty much the same compromise here. But lean a bit more on the competitive side. Enjoyed having a car that could make FTD autocrossing that I drove comfortably every day and on trips. Don't mind spending some to make if faster as long as it doesn't hurt the comfort and daily drivability and reliability.
On a Friday I drove my white 951S to Hallett on a club race weekend. Had finished my fast setup and had gotten some slotted rotors. They stopped my brakes smoking at autocrosses. Wanted drive a couple of sessions at the track to see if they would get too hot. Had boiled the stock brakes the one time I took it to the track before.
During my first session I was trading laps with one of the club racers in what I thought was just a silver 911. After the session he came over and being a complete track novice immediately apologized for holding him up. He laugh and said he had trouble keep up and we were pretty even. He was real curious asking all kinds of questions about what I had done to my 944 Turbo and what kind of experience I had. Later I found out it wasn't just a 911. It was a trailered RUF CT-R track car and he was Ron Forestall a well known fast club racer. Made me feel pretty good.
My second session there was some *@#$!! in a Miata that would let people pass. And if you tried he would jump over in front of you like it was a race or something. It was just practice sessions before the club race the next day! Had to pull off in the pits and wait for him to come around and jump out in front off him so you could get a whole lap in before you came up the @#$$@! again. Think all the faster cars just pulled off and quit the session because of him.
Oh yeah, the slotted rotors did the trick.
