Haven't had a chance to clean this engine up..... I was in such a hurry to install the kit before winter........ Once winter comes I will have a few more surprises for this car.........
So details of what has been done to date.....
Vitesse Stage 2 Kit
- Turbo
- MAF
- Chips and Dip
- PB SMT 6 controller
55 lb injectors
Lindsey Racing Wastegate
Lindsey HardPipes
MBC
Huntley Fuel Pressure Regulator
Guru resistors
Autometer guages
....other odds and ends.
** Guru Ultimate Head Gasket on the shelf for winter rebuild
** SFR intercooler waiting to order (unless John comes up with something)
To tell you about the experience................
1. Changing a turbo is a PIA. I think it was easier doing an entire engine rebuild. It really helps having a guy like John to ask even the simplest of questions.
2. You think there is no room on an NA engine. I can't see how they managed to squeeze a turbo in this same engine bay. The car also generates at least 10 times more heat than the NA engine. It really is unbelievable.
3. Installing Piggyback and resistors to the DME pretty straight forward no big issues. Check everything twice.
4. Vacuum hoses. What a flippen nightmare. I can believe the number of hoses on this car. There is an octopus of hoses under the intake!!!
5. Support: John from Vitesse provides incredible support. I can't praise him enough on his ability to think ahead of me at every turn. He would email answers to questions I was just about to ask. I would not think twice about buying more things from him!!!
The car as it sits is running 15 psi on 91 octane (can you believe that) Its next to impossible finding 92. I would have to drive 200 miles to get 94!!!
Anyways the car pulls like I can't begin to tell you. I went and ran the car in the highway and did the famous 70-100 mph run with a friend (he was holding my laptop as we logged data on the car from the Piggyback on the vitesse kit), full tank of gas, 75 degrees outside...... The car ran ~4.0 seconds in 4th gear!!!!!!!! not 3rd ... 4th. Started at 60 mph.... boost began to build and she went......
The car is not fully tuned yet..... I am hoping to run a separate map of 18 psi when I can get hold of some good gas. One of the great features of the vitesse piggy back system is that you can tune two separate maps for two different boost set ups........
Overall the experience has been great. I have a few scars on my hands from installing this turbo that I will always remember.
In the end this is truly the best bang for your buck. 'PERIOD'
Straight out of the box solution!
I would highly recommend the following.
1. Pelican Parts! - I received every gasket, belt, bolts etc.... on time!! and in stock!!!
