I am similarly nearsighted and only had my dominant eye fixed for distance and left my other nearsighted one alone (commonly called monovision) and my brain automatically makes adjustments between the two. I can drive, shoot, etc. normally and still read and see the computer, car gauges...and I need no glasses.
