Facebook changed its advertising structure to try to sneak things in as things friends did/said.

By getting your friends to comment on your stuff - you are able to expose yourself to their freinds when the fact that they hit like/comment shows up.

Its clickbait at its worst, and is the primary reason I removed myself from further interactions with facebook. (I would say deleted, but once stuff is out on the internet, its there for nigh eternity).
