issue resolved...i think..
996-561-191-00 fits 996 99-2005 and 997s cabs
986-561-191-02 is for Boxster 97-2004 and Boxster S 00-04
The 986 cable is longer than the 996 one.
I ordered the 986 part, but was sent the 996 part.
The 986 is about 10 3/8" in long, 996 is approx 8 1/2"
