I think it really depends on your route.
I have used smaller trucking companies without a problem.
It also depends if you are looking for enclosed or open transport.
I had a project car delivered via open ( requested top load) -no problems
I found the smaller companies will charge enclosed rates similar to the large companies open rates.
Post your route and maybe you will get first hand experience for the region.
