Ok, after drilling into, inspection and repair with a piece of vac. hose and "Automotive Goop" I finally know what this thing is....
A very expensive hollow piece of green plastic.
Yep, totally hollow, no special ingredients or nozzles etc. The repair was really easier than expected. (will post pic later)
I will now paint and consider moving to the other side of the firewall, just center from the battery.
